The success of the auction depends on the goods and services that are donated! As a reminder, it is part of each family's enrollment agreement to obtain $250 worth of items for the auction. The procurement deadline is February 27, 2015, but the earlier you submit the better!
How do I procure?
Procuring does not mean purchasing but rather generating. Unless you are so inclined, you need not purchase items to donate to the auction. Should you choose to buy an item or gift certificate, ask the merchant to match your purchase and you have twice the donation.
Keep your auction procurement packets handy; be sure to put your name in Solicitor’s Name Box so you get credit for procuring the item. When you patronize a business, especially one you use regularly, ask them to donate. What if they say “No”? Sometimes they do; don’t take it personally. Sometimes they say all their donations are gone for the year – that would be 2015. Say you will come back after January 1, 2016. Do ask if they have any deadlines or make donation decisions only once or twice a year.
What do I procure?
Think what you or your business, your friends, family, and acquaintances, and the businesses you patronize can donate. We have found that the following categories are especially successful:
- Wine
- Sports tickets
- Restaurant gift certificates
- Kids and family experiences (parties, classes, outings, etc)
- Unique experiences (Flight, Sailboat, behind the scenes tour, workshop in your expertise: breadmaking, gift wrapping, etc.)
- Salon Parties*
- Desserts**
- Class Baskets***
*Salon Parties
These are sign-up parties for a fixed-number of individuals to enjoy dinner, learn a skill, sample wines, listen to great music, or just join the fun. Salon parties are a great way to connect with friends, build community, and enjoy an informal, spirited atmosphere. Plan on your own, or partner with other families to organize your party together. See a list of ideas here, or come up with something new! Use the Salon Party Procurement Form to submit your final plan.
**Dessert Procurement
Another option to fulfill your procurement requirement is to provide an item for the Dessert Dash! You can make your own, buy from a bakery, or ask a professional for a donated dessert. Fill out the Dessert Procurement Form and earn $40 procurement credit for each dessert.
***Class Baskets
This year each class will work together to create a basket of great items related to a chosen theme. Each class will have a different theme! It is optional to contribute to the class basket, but any contributions count toward each family’s $250 procurement requirement. More details will be provided by the coordinator for your class.
Procurement Buy-out
