Procurement Ideas
To produce such a large scale event is truly a community effort! We understand that this can seem overwhelming, especially for new families, but we want to emphasize that you should not feel pressure! There are easy ways to help that don’t require opening your checkbook.
The auction is the centerpiece of the event, and this is one of the places we need the most help. Your contract lists a $250 procurement requirement, but that doesn’t mean you need to write a check or buy a $250 item to donate. Think about your own talents and connections:
- Are you a baker or cook? Offer an afternoon class to teach one of your specialties.
- Do you know someone who works at a news station? Ask if they could they offer a tour of the studio.
- Do you or someone in your family have a vacation home? Donate a week stay and share your favorite getaway with friends.
These kinds of unique items and experiences make the most attractive auction items.
This year we are also offering class baskets as one procurement option that we hope will help those of you who say “I have no idea what to procure!” Our wonderful coordinators have picked some fun themes to help guide you and give you ideas about what to procure. If the basket theme doesn’t excite you or you already had other ideas – no problem! Procure in the way that works best for you. And always remember that you can solicit donations, even to the baskets. Visit businesses related to the theme and ask for their donations! Bring your adorable kids along – they won’t be able to say no!
The Dessert Dash is another great way to contribute. Make your family’s favorite treat and drop it off at the Gala. Or ask the bakery where you pick up special treats if they would donate.
